polo bike so far *

Love the bend seatpost, i search this kind of stuff from long ago, never find.
No v-brakes mount is pretty stupid.
Think that toulouse is a new commer in the polo community, nothing against them, but maybe not the best for asking advice about bike. At least they contact some polo players for advice...@ Em,
Your bike looks like a 1900 motorcycle:

Just put this together...
Cranks and BB are knackered. Any tips on what to get? I know the frame's not ideal - but it'll do until it cracks.

• #3157
^love it. what to get? decent pedals and a brake.

if you show us a video of you playing on it we will be able to give better advice on how to change your set up than just looking at your bike.
for all we know you might be amazing on that, so you shouldn't change anything.

Smaller gear than mine! If that's fixed you should have no need for the brake unless you habiually chase balls toward walls!

this is wrong

Riding at a wall such that you have to brake puts you in no position to leave that position in possession of the ball, meaning your team is a man down at risk of having a loose pass intercepted.

if wind blows when in possession of ball, you'll stay like that.

the key question is: how you brake?
opening your month?
right foot in the back tyre?
skid with your legs?
left hand pulling brake lever? -

What's the skidding obsession? Anyone who can't stop reasonably quickly on a fourty inch fixed gear really needs their legs inspected.

wrong anwser.... try again

Sure, most people can stop a 40in fixed gear reasonably quickly but in hardcourt bike polo there is a need to stop almost instantaneously and change direction with or without possession of the ball. A hand brake will do that for you while conserving a load of your own energy.
Skidding in bike polo is just a by-product, not an obsession.

it's a Medium front brake, that's what Rupert said. Must be true.

Yeah but when did what really whilst positioned to ride past the pass point? Risk is all but anything and really whilst humming.

Another Pompino for you. Really fun off road in the dark tonight too. Setup needs a bit of tweaking but should take away any excuses for my lack of polo skills. Turns out you can get 700 x 38s in a Pompino too - with narrow rims anyway.

Is that a rod brake?
-
• #3174
Ha ha, no. It's a cantilever brake with a bit of homemade-ness. Part of the setup that needs changing. Stupidly bought it thinking there was a braze-on for the hanger so had to magic something up attached to one of the stem bolts to get it on the road.
