Can you really kerb / bunny hop a brompton ?
I've been riding one for a while and it still feels like riding a unicycle on a tight rope (in a good way), smooth and steady or I'm off on my arse/face/elbow/knee. Video or I'm calling bs.Here's a video of someone hopping a Brompton. I've not filmed me, tbh not been trying any tricks since the summer. A colleague attempted a jump on his and smashed his knee open (hopsital visit stylee), so do be careful if you try owt.

Got influenced by the missus' one then? how's she finding it?
-
• #132
well that's why i've got one - she's barely ridden it and i can't get enough of it so figured if we both have one i might be able to tease her out and cycle. we're going to wales for christmas so we'll both take them down and go for a tootle in the valleys
:D -

Note that he rides the Ti one and she rides the heavy one? he also makes her carry the shopping. And pay for lunch. and wash the bikes when they get home, all of them even the ones that aren't dirty.
Deep down he is jealous of my stowaway. Especially the basket.

We had a colleague off work for a while 'cos of this (he wasn't kerb hopping, just riding quickly and hit a bump) and the H&S crew quickly dictated we all fit clips. Mine came with a clip anyway, and I always used it as standard - it's a nano second longer to fold at most and grams weight cost. You can also adjust the clip so it won't clip if that's your preference, bit pointless having it tho in that case.
what a nodder

Not fun minus the clip. A colleague struggled doing cycle training on one as well as the un-weighting over kerbs/potholes.
Tower Hamlets council have a pool of Bromptons (with clips) that I train their staff on. A much nicer feeling, the clip is essential. -

i've not tried with the clip yet - looking forward to it - new brompton is 2kg lighter and different bars/higher saddle + clip - it's going to be brilliant!
what's everyones option on brompton bags? best out there?
-
• #141
carrier bag hanging off the handlebar.
-
• #142
the bag in these pics has big capacity:
dunno if it has a name or code though, just came with the bike.
edit - it's pretty water-resistant but not waterproof

Nhatt is loving her Carradice one, and it does look great.

+1 for the Carradice, annoyingly they only do them for the M type, not the S at the moment - although they tell me there will be one out early next year.
Until then I've improvised with an army surplus satchel and some cable ties, which works quite well. -

(beginning to think I need the extended seat post tho! haha)How tall are you? I'm 6ft3 and the extended post wasn't enough. There's a telescopic one which is a bit heavier but does the job for the extra height.
-
• #148
i'm 6'1 and just gone for the extended ( am riding a standard one at the moment on my girlfriends and it's fine - i don't think you really need a full leg extension for just cruising
the old one is an m type and new one an S a little worried the handlebars are gonna be too low? guess we'll soon find out!

(beginning to think I need the extended seat post tho! haha)I'll take the normal length one off you if you do.
I can p-ex/swap for the steel extended one if you like.I love my S type. Handlebars are a perfect height. I ordered the standard length seatpost, because it is the perfect length for me when pulled all the way out, but they delivered an extended. boo. The S type bag is OK. quite a nice bag with useful pockets - carries enough for a weekend away, has waterproof cover. looks good and weighs little.
The only thing I wish they would change is those little wheels at the back. They poke out to far and catch my shoes when I am pedalling.
