• Dear All,

I have recently gone back to gears and have a handbuilt rear wheel to sell, built by Billy at Brixton Cycles.

I went all out a month ago and bought the best that money can buy. This handbuilt wheel consists of:

DT SWISS RR 1.1 Silver Rim- (415g)
GoldTec 36 Spoke Black Rear Hub (Twosided thread)
36 Sapim DB Spokes (3 cross pattern)
    Sapim Nipples
    Surly 16t Track Cog
    Unbranded 16t Freewheel
    Andel Track Lock Ring
    Brixton Cycles Rim Tape

In terms of chainline - the goldtec hub to chainline measures at: 45mm

Do you research - DT SWISS rims are reknowned as being the best rims that money can buy, GoldTec Hubs are practically indestructable, the wheel has been handbuilt and has only rolled for just under a month. Bearings still very smooth like new and spokes are true.

Neither Cog is secured by superglue like some people do, so could easily be removed with appropriate tools if you'd like to increase or decrease the gearing.

This rear wheel cost me 215GBP new and besides some very minor brake stains its in very good / excellent condition. I removed the DT Swiss stickers, bit more discreet afterall the only person who needs to know is yourself.

If you are suspicious whether or not the rim is a DT Swiss come and view and you'll see by the quality for yourself.

    price drop 90GBP

  • I've seen less info on one of Hillary's super sales, and yes suspicious that can't be a real, 100% genuine DT Swiss rim can it for £130, never.

  • bit pricey mate, I bought a pair of goltechs laced to cxp's not that long ago for £120....

  • I knew there would be suspisions.... I took off the stickers because the wheels looked better in the pure silver finish.

I can fish out the receipt from Brixton Cycles - im sure I have it still. If you are that concerned.

The wheel could easily be sold for 150GBP but looking for a quick sale - as im financially worse for wear.

  • aleksi - feel free to build up the same wheel from new - and get it handbuilt - you're looking at 215+

  • Why do we bother?, dude wheel is like crazy pricey, not that desirable, most peeps would prefer aleksi's combo. Bay it out if you want anything like what your asking. People here will know what your rim is, stickers or no stickers.
    Just trying to be helpful.

  • everyone seems to pay crazy prices for flashy lo-pro's and fancy Italian frames - but no one seems to pay good money for other essentials - rims that will last 50 years - and hubs that are bombproof?

  • ^^ Nobody's saying it's not a nice wheel - I think you're just being a bit optimistic with the price here. I paid £165 for a pair of Goldtecs on CXP33's in near-perfect condition - that's about as "bombproof" as you're going to get. DT1.1 is a fine rim, but I don't think it's any better than an Open Pro? If you want top dollar, maybe try Bike Radar or eBay - I think peeps like a bargain around here?

  • fair enough - just cant be bothered with the bay - rather offer to dedicated cyclists

  • Price drop

  • I'd give you 50£ for it :P. Just got out bid on ebay one to many times...

  • My rear DT RR 1.1 rim has cracked around 3 spoke nipples!

  • price drop folks

  • how long the rear axle? 120 or 130?
