Been listening to nothing but Harvey Milk recently.
Someone said they were 'this generations Black Flag', and I thought that was such a major claim I had to check it.
Not sure if they're this generations, but they've had a huge impact on me.
not sure where the Black Flag reference comes from, but a great band and really good live

I know this is going back a bit but... Yes. Liking bands like Adept, and Her Bright Skies but not come across anything new recently.
Hot Cross are probably my favourite band ever. They are AMAZING. Other than that, Loma Prieta, Ampere, Funeral Diner, Suis La Lune, La Quite, Diatro, Comadre.
All fucking sweet serious screamo bands.

I think it was more about capturing the zeitgeist of modern disaffected youth than a punk vibe. Harvey Milk are more about agony than anger, depends what you think about the overarching feelings for the past decade or so. I'm less arsed about their impact, but I fucking love their music, so so much. I would love to see them live, I really hope they tour their new album, that would rule.
Also, the new Sword album is coming out soon. I am on SUCH a hype about it. This is the album art.
'Warp Riders is The Sword's first concept album, a science fiction maelstrom put to the storming, relentless riffage and pounding rhythms upon which the band has staked its reputation. It's also their most flat-out, supercharged, adrenaline-pumping work yet, a chrome-plated war machine that lords over the blackened sky. From the street-prowling anthems "Night City" and "Lawless Lands" to the two-part showdown of "The Chronomancer," to the furious mechanics of closing track "(The Night the Sky Cried) Tears of Fire," The Sword forces eminent domain ruling over heavy metal for the next decade, and welcome all challengers for an ill-fated shot at the title.
Warp Riders tells the tale of Ereth, an archer banished from his tribe on the planet Acheron. A hardscrabble planet that has undergone a tidal lock, which has caused one side to be scorched by three suns, and the other enshrouded in perpetual darkness, it is the background for a tale of strife and fantasy, the battle between pure good and pure evil.'
I can feel myself screwfacing and air guitaring already.

I was gutted the other day when my freind offered me any tickets I wanted for the I tunes festival. I had a look at what was on and reolised that the night before was Ozzy suppored by the Sowrd. Gutted.
Metel at the moment is definatly lacking fantasy undertones.

oh fantasy black stuff is usually pretty harmless and funny. If you don't love a bit of Hammerfall or Amon Armath now and again, you're taking it all too seriously.

Ahem, Amon Amarth is not fantasy! Just cos youre not viking enough to get it

Baroness was one of the most underwhelming live shows I've ever been to. Nothing to do with the band, they fucking ruled, the music was amazing; the crowd, on the other hand, were a fucking joke. The place was packed with some really gnarly looking motherfuckers, but they all just lurked about at the back, cuddling their scene girlfriends and looking miserable. YOU HAVE TATTOOS ON YOUR FACE YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO NOD ALONG TO METAL. Fucking crap.
Also, listening to JUST Horse Called Golgotha is a par, you need to listen to Ogeechee Hymal before it, they're a perfect two piece.
