I have to say when I first built a fixed bike I tried riding with some meaty bear traps for a few days - was nervous about being connected to pedals that were flying around relentlessly. down hills were really a challenge at this point...
Boy was I wronggg!!! as soon as I tried it with my spds it opened up a whole new way of riding. If you've ever snow boarded this is what I compare it to. you can throw your bike around, skip it to check your speed.... you feel connected, i mean. You're missing out, really. i know you can't ride like that without retention. the fact that scoble offered to send you clip & strap as well.... why not give it a try, and then see what you've been missing?
it's not going to cost you anyhing, and you don't even have to admit that you like it, when you inevitably do.
