oh another method ive used is the bung up one end of the bars so its airtight, push the grip on as far as you can by hand, then get a bike pump and push it against the hole in the end of the grip and hold firm while you pump. if you got the action right it inflates the grip so much the air starts to escape down the sides so you can slide it on cheezy peasy. no drying time needed...
