  • I built this for £100 after some wheelin' & dealin'.

    A few people liked it.

    Nice, but not porn.

  • Nice, but not porn.

    Son, I am disappoint...

  • The carbon bike is not porn and it couldn't be duplicated for £200, not sure I get your point there?

I guess it is down to what people appreciate. I simply cannot appreciate cheap, poorly made parts or bikes and they are certainly nowhere near porn.

Still challenge anyone to come up with a cheap bike that is generally accepted as porn worthy...

You brought op the £200 point, not me. If you want to keep spending top dolla on hyped up overrated parts with Italian names on them and bolt them to an expensive frame, only to end up with a finished product that will be less visually appealing than the carbon bike and not offer noticably better ride characteristics unless you're a pro rider, be my guest.

The builder has done a good job (I'd question the wheel depth, but thats me). I just dont get whats porn about it. Plain carbon, roadie builds are a dime a dozen. To achieve porn status for such a unspecial bike type requires some chioce combinations of parts, and unfortunately those pats are often defined by their cost.

Ther are plenty of seriously cool rat bikes and such on here, worth very few £s (I'm a big fan of Haj's frankenbike posts). But they have whole different originality working for them.

stem colour, valve caps, i just don't like the red rims.
It's very nice, but not porn.

  • Speaking of carbon roadies, I've had a real thing for Aero road bikes lately. I cant imagine an aero frame benifiting someone like me. I just love how fast they look (my excuse being that I may enter some triathlons). Bikes like the Litespeed Archon C1, Guru Geneo, and obviously the Cervelo S3, have all been dribbled over recently. This new offering from Neil Pryde, the Alize, has a seriously porn worthy frameset (IMHO).

OK that confirms it. I am a shallow POS.
    Want!

  • Does anyone anywhere think that the 'lightweight' logos look anything other than gash?

On their own they look really nice IMO. But on pretty much any bike you could imagine. they clash and look gash.

£200 was just used as a price point representing cheap.

You are missing the point of this thread I think. It is for dream bikes and parts, i.e. porn. A run of the mill mass produced cheap carbon frame with run of the mill cheap carbon wheels and standard parts is simply not porn.

I never spend top dollar on overrated parts thanks and my bikes are always low to mid range in price and while to me they look good they are not and never will be porn.

If you feel that carbon bike you are referring to is porn then good for you, you are easily satisifed which should bring you a happier life. To me it is just a standard/nothing special bike and no better worse than 1000's of other standard/nothing special bikes that are readily available.

+1 - I don't really mind them but they need to be on a very plain bike to not get logo clashing (hard to avoid these days!)

Sorry, to me it's just a stupid overstatement.
It's like putting "cool" on the top tube of your fixie. Really a bad idea unless it is blatantly a joke, which it isn't in that case.

    ...but really fucking nice.

Correct, but I didn't realise that postings had to be new, never seen before "porn"? I just think, as Superprecise does, that it's fucking nice!

  • How long would it last tho?

considering were almost at 700 pages its probably a repost anyway, and its not that cool.
The mirror finish c-record crank on the other hand is lovely.

Ah, I mistakenly posted on the "Never ever seen before Porn that has to be cool in Autti's opinion" page. Anyway, thanks for the compliments on the crank!

What else would a company called Lightweight use as a brand name on their product?
Sorry, I thought the question was more about the font, number of logos etc,. than the actual word?
Suppose they could always change their brand name backed up by an advertising campaign as seen by loo roll and cleaning product companies...
