Right, the rear derailleur is pretty worn out and knackered on my Gazelle. I was just going to do a cheap conversion to single speed by removing the cassette and spacing it out but the hub is a uniglide one.
Can I take off the cassette and put a sprocket on with the spacers and then use the smallest sprocket as the lockring as normal? It will look a bit dicky but still

Yes, you can. Same as my winter bike.
Or try to grind/saw/dremel of the teeth a bit, but then you need some flat sides to tighten and loosen it. -

Been using the chain wrapped around the largest sprocket to stop it moving and a chain whip trying to loosen the sprocket but it won't budge at all. Soaked it in WD40 but can't really think of much else to get it moving.
Any advice?
Cheers

Will be embarking on my first ever wheel build in the next few months. Got the first components - Planet-X track hubs. Half price in their sale at the min:
what wheel are you thinking of building with that? I want to go for a completley stealthed out wheel build so was thinking of going with a set of these, but gotta decide one rims...

^ ceramic open pros or Velocity aeros would be my choice.
Pistanators got the aeros for his new wheelset
~£70 for a pair from BLB, who'll prolly have to order them. -

I'll have to have a think, been looking at the sl42, but can only find it from us (and dont want to be stung by import tax!)

Really not sure, I like the velocity aero, as suggested. Look nice on Pisty's ride. I was thinking about maybe an H+Son on for the rear and something with a braking surface on the front.
The wheels are for a plug freestyler (until I either replace it or get an ok track frame to build up).

Above are aero's not aeroheads. No machined braking surface. Similar to Campag Omega's and cxp12's.

Slightly shallower than CXP12's, nicer looking too IMO. Especially in black.

Ah, thanks Hugo. Google fail! Not with it this afternoon. Tea and a kit kat are helping though :) Recommend a similar rim with braking surface?

Me too, still not fit for more than a tow path or two.

CS are you going for a fully black wheel (spokes and nipples)?
I don't really want to go brakeless, so will need braking surface, but don't won't to brake through to a silver rim in no time. is there an answer? -

Posted some pictures of my bike few weeks ago. Now I finally got rid of the riser, replaced it with a shorter stem and bullhorn.
Here is a pic of my other bike, beater/polobike

Been building this up for the last couple of months. Not to sure if I like it, to be quite honest. Future changes: Classic saddle and seatpost, Shamal rear.
Any other suggestions?
