Ok! provisional dibs the Hetchins pending the clarification on toptube length.
"Top Tube (ctc): 20.75in (57cm)"

Naim
Its too small for me......too big for you !
How cruel is the world ?
-
• #8
Naim – I've corrected the TT length its 20.75in, or 52cm...
-
• #9
Yes the world is so damn cruel. I would prefer 49-51cm. 52 is somewhat ok but 53 make it awkward...
After thinking very hard undibs then. Hrrr..

You have to build up the frame, ride it round to his house dressed as Tina Turner and let him hit you with a snorkel.

Ha, don't worry. Before paying, hilary told me that the Gran Sport was already sold.
I took the other three, 'though...You have to build up the frame, ride it round to his house dressed as Tina Turner and let him hit you with a snorkel.
That was funny.

HETCHINS NOVUS DUCTOR ROAD FRAME 1987
Seat Tube (ctt): 21in (53cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 20.75in (52cm)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C with brake drop of 50mm
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531C
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
This is a wonderful Hetchins Novus Ductor frame from 1987 – the lugwork is very reminscent of the classic Magnum Opus. Hetchins frames have been made in very small numbers in the last 25 years. The paint is generally in very good condition with only a few small marks. The chrome is virtually perfect. This is a very classic frame. £495 SOLD
SUN WASP ROAD FRAME c1960 Carlton built
Seat Tube (ctt): 22in (56cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 22in (56cm)
Rear dropout width: 118mm
Wheel size: 27s or sprints/700C with brake drop of 61mm
Seatpost size: 27.0mm
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
This frame built by Carlton for Sun shortly after the the Raleigh takeover uses the Carlton Flyer lugs. Its been very well refinished and is in excellent condition; the paint has just a few small marks. This is a really lovely frame which will make a very cool conversion. £135 SOLD
PARAMOUNT ROAD FRAME c1970 Nervex Pro lugs
Seat Tube (ctt): 62cm (24.5in)
Top Tube (ctc): 59cm (23.5in)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: 27s or Sprints/700C (brake drop 63mm)
Seatpost size: 27.0mm
Frame Tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
Paramount was the name used by A & C Sports in Mansfield for the frames they built in-house. This is a well built frame from I think the early 1960s and will make an ideal conversion with its long Campag dropouts. £69 SOLD
DUNNING ROAD FRAME c1950
Seat Tube (ctt): 56cm (22in)
Top Tube (ctc): 57cm (22.5in)
Rear dropout width: 110mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C (brake drop 63mm)
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Dunning’s shop was in Neasden, north-west London. I do not know much about them but on the evidence of a couple of frames I have had they were built in-house and to a very high standard. This frame built with the first version of Nervex Pro lugs I think dates from about 1950 and features a really cool twin-plate fork crown with gorgeous round blades. £89
CONDOR ROAD FRAME 1958 by Bill Hurlow
Seat Tube (ctt): 22in (56cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 21.75in (55.5cm)
Rear dropout width: 120mm
Wheel size: 27s or 700C with brake drop of 57mm
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
Bottom Bracket Threads: English
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Bill Hurlow built frames are really rather uncommon - this frame he built for Condor dates from 1958. Bill Hurlow made a name for himself outside of the cycling world as well as within it and is the only framebuilder I know who has been recognised with an obituary in the British Financial Times. His career started in the middle 1930s working for Grubb before working for Claud Butler and Holdsworth. He started working for Condor in about 1954 and devised some fancy lug designs which are true classics in their time - he also built high end frames for some other shops in the 60s – Mal Rees and Stan Miles being two. I rate Bill Hurlow as probably one of the top two or three of the post-war British builders - his work is truly beautiful and accurate. This frame has his signature curved chainstay bridge as well as the most beautifully filed (take a look at how even they are and how clean the edges are) spearpoint lugs (very similar to Gillott’s) which are immaculately brazed. This frame is in very sound condition; it was repainted I think in the 1970s. The paint is really very sound. These early Condor Hurlows are really rather uncommon and very special. £295 SOLD
DON FARRELL ROAD FRAME c1980
Seat Tube (ctt): 52cm (20.5in)
Top Tube (ctc): 55cm (21.5in)
Rear dropout width: 124mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C with brake drop of 55mm
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Don Farrell’s main shop was in Edgware, north-west London. They did not build their frames in-house but bought them in from a number of good builders. This frame which dates from around 1980 was built I think by Holdsworth. It is in its original paint - the decals are rather distressed but there. The paint is generally in very good condition. It will make a very easy and cool fixed or singlespeed conversion. £125
CLAUD BUTLER GRAN SPORT ROAD FRAME 1960s
Seat Tube (ctt): 50cm (19.5in)
Top Tube (ctc): 55cm (21.5in)
Rear dropout width: 118mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C (brake drop 50mm)
Seatpost size: 26.4mm
This Claud Butler road frame is in very sound condition but the paint and decals are in poor condition. It will make a cool budget fixed or singlespeed conversion. £45 SOLD
CARLTON CATALINA ROAD FRAME c1961 Attractive fancy lugs
Seat Tube (ctc): 56cm (22in)
Top Tube (ctc): 56.5cm (22.25in)
Rear dropout width: 120mm
Wheel size: 700C (brake drop 65mm)
Seatpost size: 26.4mm
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531
This Carlton road frame dates from 1961 I think though it has been refinished in 1970s colour scheme. It features their proprietary Capella fancy lugs and is really rather attractive - the paint is generally in very good condition though it has a number of marks on the right-hand chainstay. £85 SOLD
CLAUD BUTLER ROAD FRAME 1970s
Seat Tube (ctt): 57cm (22.5in)
Top Tube (ctc): 56.5cm (22.25in)
Rear dropout width: 120mm
Wheel size: 27s or Sprints/700C (brake drop of approx 60mm)
Bottom bracket threads: British
Seatpost size: 26.8mm
This Claud Butler road frame from the early 1970s has lost its head badge and has beebn repainted in what I think is not an attractive colour - hence it is offered at a bargain price. It will make a very cool conversion to fixed or singlespeed. £49 SOLD
TOM BROMWICH ROAD FRAME c1982
Seat Tube (ctt): 21in (53cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 21.5in (55cm)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: 27s or 700C with brake drop of 65mm
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
Bottom Bracket Threads: English
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Tom Bromwich frames originated from Coventry; he has I think built for a number of other builders (he certainly was one of the builders at LA Cycles when I visited there in the late 1990s) as well as under his own name. This is a nicely crafted road frame from the early 1980s built according to the decal from Reynolds 531 plain gauge tubing; however it takes a 27.2mm seatpost which would indicate a butted seat tube. It will make a very straightforward conversion. £89 SOLD
