Sorry, been out all day and only just seen your posting. The seat tube is much shorter than modern bikes but will still give you about the same seat height. I've just extended the seat tube to where it indicates the max. hieght should be and this gives a seat height of 42-43 inches as measured vertivcally from the ground. I attach a photo so you can see what I mean. I should say you'd be reasonably safe extending the seat tube an inch over the recommended max but that's really up to you. Let me know what you think, but it looks like it would be OK for you.

I have my saddle set to about 43", would it go that high? I know seat posts were much shorter than they are now. Looks like this could work out!
