Just got one of the Mission Workshop Rummy's.
Looks well put together and pockets are really well thought out. Looks like I'll be able to get a lot packed into this, and the roll top should be ideal for winter!

how comfortable/adjustable is the strap? They look a bit bulky
It's a toss up between that a chrome for my next bag I think... I like the look of their backpacks too

The strap is very comfortable and very simple to adjust with one hand, it holds a suprising amount. Been riding with my rummy in the rain this week and it's been good as gold. The only thing I would probably change on it would be to split the front pocket flap, so it's easier to get to one pocket at a time.
I have a chrome backpack too and I fucking love it, apart from the over the shoulder visibility issues - which you get used to eventually.
I like the expandability of the MW ones though. -

Thanks clefty, its a difficult choice..
I'm in 2 minds about backpacks - I used to use my dakine one a lot but found that it was always pushing into the base of my neck.
I've a timbuk2 messenger xl atm - which is fine, but i find the strap uncomfortable (even with the extra padded thing) and its a constant battle between having the big strap too tight or cutting myself to bits with the little strap.. I've also been using it for about 2 years now and it's really starting to smell bad.

I've had a northface Base camp that i've struggled with for the past year or so, and the Rummy is pretty hot stuff.
As clefty said, one pull on the strap and it's tight. It's really easy to adjust everything on it. I haven't tried adjusting whilst riding, but I'm doing it single handed and I don't feel like it's being pulled about (does that make sense). The weight seems to stay central.
Looks like you can load it all the way to the top of the flap, so not an ounce of space waisted.
I think there would be a water leak issue if there were seperate flaps on the front patches, but i'll be keeping my tools in that, so hopefully not going into it too much.
From what I gather these Mission guys were part of the start up of chrome, so you could look at it as a development from that!
Will know more after a few bank holiday rides.

is there a convenient spot to stick your lock? Would a NY fagh lock fit in one of the front pockets? I hate having to rummage around in the main compartment for my lock... always end up pulling half the bag out with it..

If you've got a mini evo / fag it'll go in a front pocket. I've got a medium fag, and I'm going to put it in the zipped compartment immediately behind the front flaps. There's 3 secret pockets and a "laptop" slip in there too.
There's no need to rummage.

Looking at it - it looks like they do quite a lot of things right, but fall down on some points (which given the price they should be getting right)
There is no overlap to the front flap - so when folded over there is an entry point for water etc. You can see what I mean in the 3rd picture, there is a gap near the top where the flap folds down...
1680d cordura is less abrasion resistant than 1000d despite being heavier/thicker - this is down to the fact that it is not airspun/airjet textured like 1000d. Infact 1680d isnt
even listed by cordura as a qualifying fibre - so is likely not a Cordura licensed product. The laptop pouch puts the laptop on the rear of the main compartment against your back, not a good idea, as it means that the bag can't form around your (non-flat) back, much better for it to be on the front of the main compartment, so you can put your softer items in-between. This also only really works if you have a padded back to the bag....
I would also suggest that a bag of that size would really require an X-strap, so as to not be unmanageable when you (inevitably :) ) fill it. The front straps however look very short, so I am not sure that you will be able to fill it completely and still secure the load...
I can't see any compression straps or suspension straps either, which given its size would give me cause for concern that it will be rather sail like when empty...
As for the skate straps, I am sure that many smaller manufacturers would be able to add something like that very easily :)
All said, it still looks a lot better than a lot of mass produced bags.
*Fair warning - I make and sell messenger bags... *
Does anyone here remember CUNX bags? I bought one about 20 years ago from a lady making them directly above Brixton Cycles when it was still on Coldharbour Lane. It was plain, black, very simple and could swallow a whale. It was a great bag, unfortunately I've lost it somewhere down the line.
