• I hope you don't mind me starting my post with:

**WTF dude**? Do something about your paranoia and anger. This unfortunate woman has been pronounced dead by others on **this site**, yet you are worried about a post on Hackney Hive beginning with "Yet another cyclist". Is it any wonder some non-cyclists feel the way they do about cyclists?

The world does not revolve around you.

Have a supadupa weekend and be safe out there.

Charming trolling Gobby Wench, whoever you are. If you bothered to read the thread you'd see that I had already expressed my concern for the young lady who is not dead. My point about the way collisions are reported seems prescient considering this is a post about just such a collision...

Accusations of paranoia and anger aside (qui moi?!) I'll happily concede that all our focus should be on wishing this young lady well.

  • that junction is a little confusing - the way navarro road is one way in two different directions from the junction, with contraflow cycle lanes on different sides of the road. and in latvia they drive on the right. if she was used to driving/cycling there, and only came here in june, and had just started cycling here, i suspect it was just enough contradictory information to let her look left, out of habit, rather than right, at the junction.. hope she pulls through...

    Spot on.

  • It's a great relief that the woman is alive and we can only hope she makes a swift and full recovery.
I also think we have to be very careful about waiting until information about collisions is confirmed from official and reliable sources if only to save ourselves the unnecessary misery of hearing that a cyclist has been killed when they have not been.

  • Fingers crossed she pulls through.

  • Any news forthcoming?

  • Big +1. just edited my original post in this thread, it would be nice if others could do the same. let's hope she pulls through.

Hackney Gazette has an update on its website dated today.
    "Critical but stable".
In the article there is a number for the local nick dealing with it and also the name of DS in charge.
The Hackney Gazette seems to be following this story quite closely so probably best to check on its site.
The number of people viewing it will probably prompt them to keep it updated.

  • I am unable to start a thread, so one of y'all may want to use it to start it's own thread. Cyclist being treated for head injuries after crash in Mile End. http://tinyurl.com/36agzmf

  • Very sad. Hope there is a full recovery.

  • My website at http://lovingdalston.blogspot.com/ has the worst news on the cyclist injured near Greenwood Road in Hackney on 5 August 2010. It's worth looking at the other stories on Loving Dalston that report the accident. It is upsetting that my first post on this site should be so wretched. RIP, Arina Romanova.

  • RIP Arina.

  • sad news

  • Crud. RIP.

  • All R.I.Ps are sad, but this is worse than most, because the poor lady clung to life yet still lost the battle.

    Everyone, be safe.

  • Very sad. This happened only a few hundred metres from where I live and I walked passed the scene tonight and wondered how she was doing. RIP

  • Rip.

  • Awful news. Condolences to her family and friends.

  • tragic outcome

  • Tragic news. A waste of a young life. Rest in peace.

  • very sad news.

    RIP Arina

  • Rip =(

  • So sad that she didn't make it. I've avoided posting until it was finally confirmed. The Hackney Gazette has changed its web-site but you may be able to read the short news piece here in the e-edition of the paper on page 2:
