I haven't drunk for many days (11 to be precise) and I am planning to have a nice couple of pints in an hour or so. Nice.

Same here, gonna get some beers in and if I can not open my eyes in the morning in certain time, then I will make my way to Herne Hill for a circular spin, because circular reasoning works. Or I might go to the Hog Hill for a competition. Peace out!

How many did the ride in the end?
Ride synopsis anyone?
Hope the biker isn't too badly injured - did any of you see the accident or did you ride bye afterwards? -

Nice day - weather was amazing. Sobering to be present at the aftermath of a road accident, but it did afford us some off-road action after the chopper took off.
Nice riding with you chaps. The BBQ on the beach was perfect.

yeah!
glad I got my road bike together for this ride, was well worth it - a really enjoyable ride.
met up and brick lane with the other guys (all riding gears, although some with more than others): braker (sam) branwen (tim) carson (edward) ah1976 (alex). had biegel and coffee for breakfast.
set off and caned it out of london, with the tail wind we were easily cruising at 20+ mph with braker setting the pace.
we were soon out on nicer country roads. the route was really pretty and took us through some lovely little villages. we stopped at one (the one with the short but rather steep hill out of it for those who know the route) and had some lunch. a local goose came over hoping for some food but went away disappointed.
the whole route was undulating (not flat as i have heard lots of people say) but none of the hills were particular taxing and there were some nice down hill sections where you could get on the drops stick it in top gear and cane it, which was good fun.
we kept a good pace up until we came to an accident (details in earlier post). the road was closed off and we had to wait until the air ambulance had taken off before we could skirt around the scene off-road.
after this we struggled for a while to get our momentum back and had a few more short stops around this time. i must not have been eating enough as i started to lose power and was getting dropped on any hills... i started to worry that i was going to struggle for the rest of the ride. but when we stopped for water, i had a choclate milkshake and a clif bar and within about 30 mins i had my mojo back and was sprinting up hills again.
the rest of the ride slid by enjoyably at a slightly more sociable pace and we chatted a bit more. when we arrived my legs were still feeling pretty good. we detoured slightly to hit an offie, then on to the beach where tim's dad had already arrived with bbq and local sausages. sam had a beer disaster as one of his cans had exploded in his bar bag.
beers, bangers and bananas on the beach made for the perfect ending to the ride.
train home then I rode to e&c to catch the end of the polo. was well impressed with the level of skill being demonstrated. cycled to camberwell with kp, hoops, psy and diapo then headed home. i did have to walk up the last bit of gipsy hill. my legs just refused to behave...
great day! roll on bournemouth and bristol!
thanks sam and branwen for organising and bbq and thanks to the everyone for the company.

yes it was a nice ride - nice pics and write up too - was a pleasure riding and chatting with you all. thanks braker for organising the ride and branwen for the finish - was lovely to be on the beach with the sausages.
that cyclist was lucky....collision with an out of control motocyclist....though I suspect that if he escaped serious injury it was because the motocyclist did his best to avoid nailing him hard.
see you maybe for the next 100 club outing :)
