How are the fibre flares users getting on?

Mine died after cycling all day through france in heavy showers. It was on the seat stay so I guess it got a lot of spray from the rear wheel. Tried new batteries but still nothing. So I've just sent it back to Wiggle, hopefully get a replacement.
I used it all through last winter with no trouble, but that was attached to my jacket so a bit more protected from the spray. Still, held its own in the wet until recently.

test of CREE done.
its shit. -

Which make and model was it H? And why was it shit?
EDIT:
I realise now from the post below, that the CREE name has either been licensed by a Chinese manufacturer,
or its just been lifted for use, for free. The original North Carolina company couldn't be very pleased. -

My cree is really good!
I bought one of the P7 models, really bright, excellent strobe and seems like it will last an age.
One issue for me is that I bought it with a universal mounting which is made of rubber - it works but needs a bit of fiddling to get used to it i.e. some tape on the bars to fill them out enough to stop the mount from slipping.
Got mine here but he dosen't have the one that I ordered in stock, I only paid £24.99

This CREE light looks interesting, for a commuter winter light.

My £7 incl p&p CREE (P4, I think - not even a fancier later version) is amazing as a 1xAA helmet light. Nice positive forward clicky, about 90 minutes runtime (I only switch it on for fast descents or when I'm caning it up the front of the bunch on the flat), really good throw (quite a focused beam, but with a functional amount of spill). Single mode.
Did my usual inner tube condom for it, and use velcro (old Zefal pump straps) to attach to the lid, and added a bit of silicone grease to the threads/o-rings. 1 spare battery in pocket (another Vapextech 2900mAh) which might actually get used on the upcoming hilly overnighter.
It's a Romisen RC-G2 from Dealextreme, BTW.

TNRC peers would confirm that it's good enough to facilitate some of my more enthusiastic descents :O

Ive got a magicshine that I got for 75quid. Great light
Like this one.. the highest setting is overkill in London but you get 3 settings and a disco strobe
I have one of these. Bought it through DealXtreme at the beginning of the year. Mounting is OK, but just a silicone ring stretched around your bars. It comes with 2 sizes and unfortunately I snapped the one I use most the other day!
I'm considering another front light. Anyone know if these Electron's are any good? Seem to be reduced in price quite nicely:

Also, any tips for rear lights to clip onto bags/clothing? I have a couple of Smart 1/2 watt rears and a few different Knogs at the moment, but feel I could do with something on my bag too. I ride up busy B roads between two towns and in the dark they're pretty shite!

Blackburn Mars 4 (or whatever the newest version is). I've got the 3 and it's done me proud through all weather. Good reviews on here for the Mars 4, too.

thanks for the recommendation - I've just ordered one.
my last two, ordered from Dealextreme, were a bit crap and stopped working after a few months, so I'm hoping this one fares a bit better. just can't afford joystick etc. was thinking of getting a magicshine but they're out of stock at the mo.

BUMP.
I hope everybody is getting better lights, or at least making sure your lights are at full charge when you're venturing into the gloom. Winter approaches, and I'm hoping that people are making themselves extremely well lit. Rechargeable batteries is definitely the way to go.

You can't bump unless your dropping the price.

Sounds familar, but I can't remember where that comes from. Don't remind me, or somebody will publically tell me off, and frankly, its rather tragic. I can do without that, so don't stir it.
Luckily, this is not actually my thread, its Skully's. Though he's been awfully decent about the hijack.

Okay Doke!
I was going to get some of those usb chargable blackburn lights, the flea ones.
Anyone got them?Or should i get a mars 4?
-

I'm not rating those Fleas very highly amongst its contemporaries. I think the reviews were a bit mixed.
-
• #822
I have front and back fleas, pretty good light IMO, really small, really bright, no mounting bracket, battery life isn't the best though.
I'll probably get an additional front light for winter but I rate the fleas very highly.

He's a user, so his opinion counts for more than mine. I'd take his.
But also, I'd look for the brightest light, for the least price. The list helps.

The Flea set is great. They're tiny so you can stick them in your pockets, very bright for their size, and don't require batteries. The inbuilt rechargeable battery was the main selling point for me, along with the lack of need for tools to fit/remove.
well i'll give it a test.
its mainly for nottinghamshire early morning rides this winter.
