ok DJ, bit of info on stratford upon avon for you, the cyclepath your gf is referring to is a traffic free stretch of old railway line, now used as a cycle trail,
it's occasionally mucky, but nothing slicks wont handle, (I occasionally spin along it if i'm bored on 23c's)
other than that there is little to no mountain biking in stratford and the most rigorous offroad around is the canal towpath between wilmcote and henley in arden, but I wouldn't bother with doing that, it's shit and full of walkers, who will try and knock you off, as i said, feel free to drop in at the shop and have a chat
