Had a cheap spanner, broke it, bought a better one....... but yes, the OP may be able to make do temporarily (a few years at most) with a shorter and cheaper adjustable spanner or wrench IF he doesn't use it in his professional capacity.
I (wigan)will try to be more helpful and use trailing dots less often..........
