i would personally take the jail sentence

You could try putting the fork on the frame and then looking at it to see if it looks nice.

The De Rosa fork would increase the value of your Colnage.
Do it!
-
• #5
but to put it on the Frame would mean to buy it first...
i am trying to decide before spending my money

buy a clamp on brake

How about if you take a fork that looks like the De Rosa one, put a heart-shaped sticker on it, and then put it on the frame and look at it to see if it looks nice.

Or! The De Rosa and Colnago workshops are just down the road from each other. Why not pop down to Milan, and ask if you can borrow a frame/fork from each to see what they look like and whether or not they look good together.

I see, I see!
I will decide by myself....

• #11
if you haven't yet purchased the fork why not try buying a colnago fork to put on your colnago

that is the thing! I have a colnago track fork on it right now! the one that belongs to the bike and also the one I would want to ride...
but police has stopped me twice in the last week, threatening to take my bike if I don`t install brakes (2 brakes, front and back).
Since there are no brake drillings I would need a new fork to at least install a front brake!now try finding a colnago fork with brake drilling with at least 22cm stearer length and threaded in either white, black or chrome!
that is why I am looking at other options! and all I wanted to know was if the 2 brands match or not!
That was a completly senseless question catering to those who set up their bikes with matching groupsets from the right era.... (a make my bike look good question) -

Useless thread.. buy a clamp on brake
-
• #14
if I wanted a clamp on, I would have asked what kind of clamp on and how it looked....
but thanks anyway!

what's wrong with a clamp on?

as I wrote before I need a fork for my colnago track frame, since the german police really sucks...
They don't let you ride without a fork? Pricks!
Any fork will do mate, I wouldn't bother spending extra cash on a De Rosa one. Sure, I'd prefer to keep the original fork, as do you. But if you have to swap them it won't matter if the new fork is made by some other Italian boner inducing brand or not because it still wouldn't suit the frame as much as the original fork. In fact, a nameless one will look better than any branded fork.

There's a "connection" between Colnago and De Rosa: Eddy Merckx.
So, from that point of view there's a match. But being a purist, I would say that it's not posible.
As a pragmatic mechanic and cyclist I would say: doesn't matter. Any fork that fits and suits your needs is okay. Even if it's Giant, Kynast, Pinarello, Peugeot, or whatsoever. -

If you're getting stopped by the police, you're not going fast enough.
hi,
as I wrote before I need a fork for my colnago track frame, since the german police really sucks...
would it Be totally wrong to put a de rosa fork on the colnago frame?
I know it may work technically but I care about the look and I am not sure whether that would be allright???
