Having to put up with this idiotic and juvenile use of 'gay' as a derogatory term would be nothing more than an annoyance if that was as far as it went. But that isn't as far as it goes; gay men and women are still regularly assaulted and killed in Britain. Is it any wonder that hearing people who are supposedly liberal and tolerant and humane take up even the smallest space in this spectrum of denigration and contempt becomes so depressing?
