They are ISO taper (ie campag or miche bottom bracket) and 114mm if you are using it as a double, 111 also works too according to velobase

Using it as a single - will that make much difference?

yeah - you will want a shorter spindle - at a guess I would try the miche primato - 107mm as it has adjustable cups and you can move it either way a couple of mm's - they are cheap too.

Hi Im new to the forum so can't post a new thread.
Was wondering if anyone could help.
Im riding a charge plug freestyler and Ive been hearing a clunking or clicking type noise when I cycle and I think that this noise is coming from the bottom bracket.Does anyone have any idea of what this might be?
Thanks,
John -

Hi John. I'm also new to the forum. Before condemning the bottom bracket make sure the noise isn't originating in one of the pedals. It's not too uncommon that this be the case. The noise usually occurs at the same position of the pedal stroke. Bottom bracket problems usually involve worn and therefore rough bearings. A test for this I have heard (though haven't had occasion to try) is to disconnect the chain from the chainring and spin the crank. If the bearings are worn and rough you should be able to feel and here that through the frame. Hope this helps a little. Take care

Cheers magdelin,
I will give the pedals a look, but I'm 99% sure it's not coming from there. I might just take it to the shop but I really don't want to get charged if it's something really simple! -

I'm building an Alan for a friend of mine and need to change the bb. Before I take it out, does anyone know if the bb's on Alan frames are French threaded. Is there any quick way to check other than trial and error?
thanks -

Pretty sure it's Italian.

hummm ok. Do you know if there is anyway I can check, other than getting an Italian bb and trying fit it?

good luck with your build chap
Hello,
First post so hoping someone can help me with some details, I have a 70's Alan frame and am putting a Mavic 630 (SSC) chainset on it - does anyone know what BB it takes and spindle length etc? Any recommendations/advice appreciated.
I have googled it all to death but thought I'd run it past people who might have done it before.
Cheers
