Did you not read the bit in the instructions about keeping the C of G infront of the axle of the trailer? ;)
Funny you should post that today though. I've just got back from the local car repair place - had some nuts welded on to the underside of my trailer's bed. Allows threaded inserts for attaching stuff, including my thule bike carrier!
There's loads of clearance (though the picture doesn't imply, camera angle)
I've also got a lockable plastic box that bolts down nicely too.
