it work, but it doesn't stick when it's dry like cheap hairspray from the bottom of a cornershop, they're lubricated after all.

Recently I found that a tiny squirt of Muc-off works quite well too. Just requires you to get some air in between the rubber/bars to let it dry (dries quite quickly). Hairspray is great of course, but I didn't have any to hand.

I've tried hair mousse before (for lack of hair spray). I can safely say it's not suitable!
