debating attendance
certain lifestyle changes are leaving me with very little sleep right now
got about 4 and a half hours kip last night and have been nodding off at work (no not on the gear)
thinking yoga tonight and turbo tomorrow may actually be a better option

:((((
the queue for tickets in Vauxall was so long and then the ticket barrier didn't want to let my bike in... and I was literally 20 secs late for the train... I should have taken phone number of someone....
at least I live just 2 mins from train station!
have a good one, the weather seem to have cleared up -

Not a sentence you could get away with 'Oop North'.

There was enough of an autumnal tinge to the evening for me not to feel too out of place with mudguards and fat tyres.
The misty descent from the top of Leith Hill was great.
Thankfully we weren't all riding along the short stretch of A25 we have to navigate on this route any earlier in the evening. Fucking car-nage. Hope there were no fatalities.

it was a great ride.
when i saw the carnage i wanted to be at home -pseudo-safe-
i am happy that i made tonigh
thanks to all for the lovely company. -

Lovely company and roads...thanks again for my fortnightly respite from Londontown
-
• #3693
no hiding place out there. My respect to all who fixed it out there. Was burning off some 'waiting for biopsy result' stress (all good news) that had built up over the previous fortnight so that's why you saw me at the front of the ride and actually reaching pitch hill almost alongside Middle O.N. who is monster strong at the moment (stops typing to have a fag break out of respect). The TNRC still delivers it's as simple as that. Awesome folk, awesome riding and my favourite train journey.

Great route, great company. Christ knows why, but I seem to pick the hard routes when I bring the fixie bike out.
Thanks to those who waited at the top of Whitedown, and thanks to Des for supplying the lighting while I fixed my puncture. I got to within 50 yards of the top before bailing, I lost my rhythm when a car came down.
+1 re the car accident.
Glad to hear all is well, Tim.
And damo, I take it your missus was watching the football...

that carnage looked nasty, it always makes me a bit quiet and a bit *phew*puff out cheeks
an excellent night out, the humidity and mist added to the fogginess of my glasses. must learn to descend.
@dropout:
A man walks into a bakery, points and
asks the girl behind the counter"Is that a macaroon or a meringue?"
"No, you're right, it's a macaroon."@sam: no. she didn't. she was blissfully unaware until the news on radio 4 when i got in. there was much swearing.

That was totally awesome and gutting at the same time. Been out boozing and smoking quite a lot recently and I was hoping that gears might get me through this one relatively unscathed. Not the case. Whitedown fucked me up. Proper. About 30 yards after that hairpin right there I was on the side of the road, heart pounding, legs twitching, my heavy breathing illuminated by my light. I was fucked. As I slumped over my handlebars and wished for a quick and painless death peeps just kept on grinding up that mother fucker. To put it bluntly I felt like a c*nt.
Next time, Whitedown. Next time.
Oh, and lovely to see everyone last night. Naturally. :) Props to those that did it fixed. You guys are beasts on the ups *and *downs. Bastards...

Chuffed to have made it to this ride.
I was beginning to think some vengeful predetermination was focussued on me. A fortnight ago I had Murmura's experience of seeing the train leave having made it as far as the platform, decided I had to make use of my ticket and ended up with a police escort off the M25. Long story. On the Welwyn Ride I suffered two punctures on the way out and ended up on the sliproad to the M25 at South Mimms service station. Before that I got to St Mary Cray 5mins too late for the Exedown ride and ended skulking around Sidcup.
From now on I'm taking Tuesday as my day off and riding out.
Excellant company and some excitingly steep, long downhills. Awesome M.O.Nowhere and Sam fixed action.
Thanks all for a focus for my week.

Shame you didn't make it, there is always something to learn from those rides.
I really enjoy too that misty descent, I never rode my push bike in a similar atmosferik lane.
Thanks to everyone who exchanged a true smile!

That was a toughie, not sure the climbs or the descents we harder, pain verses terror. Hugely rewarding all the same, perhaps even fun, tho it would be hard to explain why exactly why it's fun. Certainly the company always make it fun.
The mist at the top of Leith was great, the head-torch probably made it more difficult to see but the beam of light was like having a frickin' laser beam strapped to my head.
@damo, that joke works best in a Glaswegian accent, just need to find a Glaswegian font to type it in.
looking at the list all the fasties are on the second train so i may as well give up. no chance of getting there at 19.00h
