maybe interested, let me speak to a friend. how heavy is it(approx.)?

In between middle and heavy-ish. Nowhere near a Dutch bike, but not a 531 either! They're lovely and nimble to ride. I'll prob fit at least a new front wheel, and a rack, then line-up and clean the mudguards, Fit an old fashioned brown saddle, and give it a good service . I think its getting some new tyres too.

Atom I have one exactly the same..though a bit older looking at the decals. I would say around 12-13kg? mudguards all the same stuff
My dutchie is about 17kg..? maybe more...though it's as awkard as fuck...these are quite compact and diddy...the feels like a youths bike and not a man sized machine. I ride it and I'm 5'8 and my mate borrows it and she's 5'3 and she can move it about fairly easily. I don't wrestle with this the way I wrestle with the dutchie up the stairs.
hope this helps? -

Bargain! Quite a late one though.
What's the date on the hub?

Havent a clue Chris. Its just a cheap runabout. the hub, along with the rest of the bike, is 200 miles from me ATM.

Pretty interested, is it a similar size to Wingedangel's?

You'll have to ask wingedangel that, but she(?) did say 'identical'. T think they only came in small, large and ladies. At the bike recycling schem in York weve seen about 30 in 4 years. Nearly always in good nick, and gents ones were always this size. It's got 26" wheels, so it looks taller than it is, when youre used to looking at 700c bikes.
If you tell me your stand-over (crotch) height, I'll pop a saddle on and measure it. I could save 30mm by fitting an unsprung saddle. -

Looked at it today, and the hub says June 1982. Seems bang on to me. Standover height is same as a 700c bike with 20" frame. Crank to saddle is similar to a 21" frame, or a 22" when i fit a sprung saddle. With seatpin as in photo, its same as a 23" frame.
so basically it will comfortably fit anyone between 5'6" and 6'.Hurry up and dibs it, cos if i refurb it first, Imight keep it!

Believe it or not, there was one in the Malaysian bike shop where I used to hang out. It has drum brakes thou with stainless steel spokes, without the SA hub, just simple single speed beauty :)
Hercules Commuter. Sturmey 3-speed. Lovely greeny-grey colour. Will be refurbished with better wheels and a brown sprung saddle (if you want it). Photo shows pre-refurb condition. Frame is really nice, and very original.
These are fantastic shopping bikes, and perfect for tweedy-type pootling, leaving out in the rain, not getting nicked etc.
Will be £80, no offers. In London from 29th April. PM or text 07761 401829
