System Ex / Formula locknuts: where?

Posted on
  • I need locknuts for my Formula rear hub, but I can't find any.

    Any ideas?

Can I get some better quality ones from anywhere?

  • any metal ones 15mm should do you

  • No, I mean the ones inside the dropouts.

Which always disintegrate on Formula/Ambrosio/System EX etc...

  • get an old metal hub, clean up the lock nuts and slap them on problem solved 15mm should fit.

  • Aha, my one snapped in half when I tightened the nuts once...

I bought replacements from Condor, but they weren't cheap. £8 comes to mind, but I may have blacked the real figure out of my memory due to the abject horror of the experience.

  • after i twisted a front ambrosio/formula/iro/system-x hub the other day lacing a wheel with sloping radial design, i'm never going to buy one again :(

  • sort of thing old fashioned bike shops have "out the back"

  • Just scored a pair in CONdor for a reasonable five sheets.

  • ah well, was just about to empty my nuts and bolts box over the floor to have a look, saved me the clean up and bollocking from the missus I suppose.

  • Hi all

Does anyone have a source for axle locknuts for the System EX hub?

Preferably better quality than the originals, one of which has just cracked.

    SP

  • I just got one from condor. £1.50 I think

  • +1 condor.

  • Cheers all. I'm surprised the usual on-line suspects don't seem to have them.
