Weight shouldn't be too much of a problem, question is how brittle it is.
Do you think it will shatter easily on impact with the ball ??
If you've got enough of it I'd be interested in testing it.

I don't reckon they will shatter, it's like really stiff vinyl(the floor kind, not the record kind).
I have enough for 4 wheels, I can probs get more, my work throws it out quite often.
You're welcome to some if you want it I have 4 (25-27" square) sheets that I won't need. Its at my work beside the Oxo Tower. If you can pickup some time this week it would be best.

It's worth a try at least. I don't think It'll effect the handling that much as you're not going that fast on the court. Might have to be a bit careful riding home etc.

I think cutting it is going to be the toughest bit. Might need to use a jigsaw or dremal or something similar.
I managed to get hold of some of what I think is 4mm PVC plastic from my work. It might even be some sort of vinyl mix. It's very tough to cut with a stanley blade and if you score 1 side and bend it it will "snap" but at the same time it has a bit of flex to it.
Has anyone used this type of material to make wheel covers from before?
If they have, did it work? Apart from the difficulties in cutting it to shape and size I thought it could be a little heavy.
