Wanted: Cheap 54cm road bike

Posted on
  • Hi,
This may look a bit dodgy as it's my first thread but I'm 100% legit, my main reason for joining the forums was to hopefully find a good deal on my first road bike. Will probably stick around though, seems like a decent forum. For peace of mind my/my sisters ebay is b-rogers123 if you want to check the feedback.

Can't really afford gears as I have a max budget of about £250 as I need to buy spds and shoes on top of the bike cost.

I'm not too bothered what I get so long as it's a 54cm frame, has brakes that actually work and has decent wheels/hubs. Would be nice to have rack mounts as well but not essential. If possible under 25lbs. Oh and freewheel not fixed (yet)!

    Cheers!

  • Little bigger, but cheap and all in all a very good bike for the money in my humble opinion...

if you want it we could get to London by train somehow

  • Forgot to mention I'm not actually in London, about an hour and a half north in Northamptonshire (the one they're trying to rename as northlondonshire, haha).

m.f that looks awesome, would you be able to post it? Also will it be small enough for someone around 5'8-9" with 29" inside leg?

  • I have a 653 road bike in a 54cm size. It has most shimano 600 stuff on it. But a dura ace front mech, and a newly fitted 8 speed cassette and chain. Gear changing is a bit fiddly because I dont think the downtube shifters were actually designed for 8 speed.

Its light and very comfortable to ride. KInd of metallic green colour.

  • DFP - pics and how much do you want for it?

    sorry to threadjack.

  • Hey I've got a Giant SCR3 from 2008 (£449 new), but with a recently installed Shimano Ultegra Hollowtech BB/Crankset (£169 new ) and Fulcrum Racing 7 wheelset (£149 new). It's an Alu frame, with sloping top tube ctc 53.5 and seat tube 54 ctt. I'm just under 5ft10 and its fits me perfectly.

Superlight, superfast and great for commuting on. A few scratches and chips here and there but no major damage whatsoever.

I'd be after around £350 for it. PM if you want me to send pics!

  • Just scored a new-looking Langster for 220 on ebay so no longer looking! Thanks for the replies :)
