As I said, how bad is your suit? Do you wear it or does it wear you? Are you comfortable in it, and I don't mean is it comfortable. All that "clothes don't maketh the man" isn't strictly true, but first impressions do last.
Chances are, if you look like a twat they'll always think you're a twat however good you are at your job or however effective your presence at this meeting is.
