dont read this thread much, but good to see Sopa Rivas latest,
my 2010 hub geared 29er is running awesomely,
used some 700x35 tyres on 700 k.m ride recently, pumped am up hard and I was rolling faster than plenty of the lightweight tourers on the group,
the 8 speed alfine is available with rapid fire shifters, presumably the 11 speed coming out next month will too,
admittedly wasnt loaded up, but 14.5 thousand metres climbing put the set up to the test- didnt manage to break it even with that amount of flogging. go try.
