I'm changing my view on these kind of threads. I think the people who say, It isn't like this on other forums or If you don't want to answer the question then just ignore the thread, have a point.
I think we should generally be more tolerant. Either give a useful reply like Skully and BlueQuinn did or say nothing. Or give a useful reply and add a polite note that there is a search function/Google they can use.
Maybe I am becoming a sanctimonious cunt (becoming? I hear you laugh) but there doesn't any more seem like a good argument for this forum being so impatient with new comers.
