  • more than a kit kat.

  • more than a G reg fiesta 1.1 gl.

  • what chainset is on it?

  • What will someone pay for it?

What would you pay for it?

That's a good rule of thumb for establishing value

  • I seem to remember that the transaction price is where the supply curve crosses the demand curve, whilst accepting that individuals can hold different utility values for the same good, and marginal utility can increase in some instances for the second good/usuage (such as ice-creams in the summer). I am not sure if this is helpful (or even still accurate).

  • I asked Terry Tibbs, he said "David Lloyd road bike, one paaaaaaand, talk to me!"

  • on a serious note, depends on frame material and groupset, plus what others said, if someone desperately wants a blue DL roadbike and has to have it now, well you will get well over the market value...

  • My bad, the spec is roughly as follows:

Shimano SIS gear levers and front and rear mechs
    Campagnolo headset and bottom bracket]
    Selle san marco saddle
    Shimano areo levers
Steel frame but unsure if it is 531 or not..

  • BTW fieldcoil, that bike is tiny. How tall are you?

  • thanks for that, I had found two threads bu not the hillary stone one. I guess I just wanted a rough guide for this bike in particular although that obviously helps.

  • 5'6"...

  • Ok. Just to point out it's a 52cm. My missus is 5'6" and rides a 54cm. YMMV

  • In a way I'm glad we've opened up a discussion on the philosophy of value, some very interesting points have been made but it doesn't really help me out much...

  • and you expected help by posting a small picture of a bike without any details and without even knowing yourself what the frame material is :-)

  • It's got no pedals, it won't work

It's not my bike so that is the only picture I have - I added details about the parts.

  • It's got no pedals, it won't work

none of my bikes have pedals and they all work fine.

  • No and no. Value is what a normal, sensible, reasonably knowledgable buyer will pay for something, not what a specfic individual would pay for it or what it actually sells for. (Unless of course the specific individual / sales price happens to be the same as what a normal, sensible, reasonably knowledgable buyer would have paid.)

I agree, but you can still get lucky with someone who has no idea/doesn't care what the sensible value is

that goes for sellers and buyers alike

i would guess at £200 but others may say higher or lower, i may get flamed for my estimation, but there you go

    £200

    I thank you.

  • £220.

  • £100

  • £220.

That's more like it. Thanks guys.
