Don't go overboard on the Bepanthen. If you do it will encourage the tattoo to form a thick moist scab and draw some of the colour out. Use just enough for the covering to be barely noticeable rather than a shiny sticky coat over it. Wash it gently and do this twice a day and your tattoo will turn out fine.
i find if you wash the tattoo with water after 5-6hrs, get all the slime off (and apply bepanthen, cover in cling film for day or so) i get no scabbing at all. zero dropout, light peel after 3 days and thats it. then again i heal quick and get no redness. my escher portrait pic is straight off the gun.
