Hello all! I'm moving to Cambridge on Sunday and was wondering whether there'll be polo this Tuesday?... I've not played before but wondered whether I could come and take a look?...
I'm starting uni in October so not sure how much time I'll have when term starts, but I'd love to get involved over the summer... even if it's from the sidelines!
Anyways thought I'd say hi to you all and good luck in Berlin to the guys that are playing there :-) -

I just saw 'Type' message about the £26 from yesterday. Do we have to pay for yesterday? I'll give you money if needed...

I'm not sure how many people will be around on Tuesday (depends on how many are back from Germany) and the following Sunday there is potentially a big tournament in London (if it runs over from the Saturday).
Either way, if you come along on a Tuesday or a Sunday most weeks to watch, someone will definitely lend you a bike and a mallet to have a go!

Hey Taxi, They use to do huge awesome free parties/ raves in this swimming pool in the 90's (Heretik, Spiral tribes...). Playing there looks so cool :)

OK cool! I'll be living on Catharine Street which by the looks of things will be about 2 mins ride from the court you use... so I guess I'll just swing by :-D
I'm well excited!!

Sure Luca, it seems they have a pretty bad rep because they are slightly harder than regular Franklin Reds. That said, a ball is better than no ball and other than drilled AGS they seem to be the closest.

News update...
Cream are out. Apparently there was a mad mix up with scores and they didn't get to play their final game. Fen Boy did well(ish) yesterday with a mixture of win, loses and draws. They played a really good game with Rolling Hoods. They started off incredibly well against Cosmic scoring against them almost immediately but Cosmic brought it back real fast and Will bent his frame so played very carefully and for every game afterwards played in goal and I think lost all games towards the end of the day. It was a really long day for them yesterday, they started playing at 3 and had to squeeze in six games before it got dark. After their loss against Cosmic, most of Cosmic and Co. came over to watch Fen Boy play an American team (Milwaukee I think) and there was massive support for them, loads of cheering and it was a really long game, not 1,2,3,4,5,game! within minutes like people might have expected. There are four courts here and none of them were running on time but each one slightly different from the others so there were games until it got dark and then it started raining so much, play stopped altogether. I think Fen Boy played right up until then end last night. Apparently they have two games today but with the weather and with Will's frame being a write off (bent top tube, nearly snapped down tube), I don't know what they are going to do. It's raining so much it's ridiculous.
The one thing that stands out is that as the games go on and on, people get tired and mallet hacking and aggressive play gets really prevailant. I don't think it's a deliberate thing, mostly people are exhausted. People towards the end of the day are getting penalties, including Heyden who incurred a 30 second penalty in one of the last games for something I can't remember.
The whole event has an incredibly European feel (much more so than the London Euros last year), such a diverse number of teams plus a great Australian team and a number of American teams, all of which so far seem really focused, good communication with their other players and still really friendly.
Great time so far, not sure what the weather will bring. Remaining qualifiers today, main tournament tomorrow.

I might be about, but most people are away in Berlin. Drop me a text and maybe have a knockaround around 2ish if we can get enough players, even if its just 2 on 2 or something? We will also need a ball.......
