    please help...thanks

  • can't really see from the pics but looks ok-if its the super record it should have a bronze coloured medallion in each fork crown and that fork looks like the right shape. Should have a slotted BB shell too.

Looks a bit unloved but great bike! Wanted a gios for ages...

  • thanks for the info.

does anyone else have some information on this?
    thanks!

  • I've done a fair bit of digging aroung on the interwebs on the older Gios after buying a frame on the bay and asking the same questions... I'm by no means an expert but there are a few things that stand out to me.

I haven't seen detail on the bottle mounts like that so far, or rack mounts on the rear droupouts or forks. Also, the top of the seat tube is normally curved (this one looks completely flat) and the tops of the seat stays are usually flatter than that.

I think not all of the forks had the coins in the tops. There would be a Gios logo on the crown instead. Much like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stay-x-gold/3507371262/in/photostream/
But again, this one looks to have rack eyelets.

I don't think the lug lining is standard.

Try and get some close ups of the bottom bracket, rear dropouts and fork crowns if you can. Example bottom bracket with old style cable guides: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stay-x-gold/3507370732/in/photostream/ - They dropped the cutout bb at some point though so that might not mean anything.

I'm still trying to work out what my own Gios frame is. I'm pretty sure mine's genuine but it does not have the original forks and the forks are hard to find or very expensive. It makes a good fixed gear for now though!

I posted on another forum a while ago: Help identifying Gios frame It wasn't conclusive but someone there had a few useful things to look out for.

    Good luck!
