I catch myself thinking the same *'let the gene pool clean itself' * kind of thoughts when I am not really paying attention, but you need to understand that most of these people are the product (putting aside mental illness) of a lifetime of conditioning, they are not evil.

You have to understand that the world is not populated by scientifically literate and responsible adults who know when to jettison emotion and trust scientific expertise, you don't have to be mentally ill to make the wrong call on these kinds of things - what you do need to be in place are people willing to exploit this desperate lot.

conditioning from who? their parents? i see far more adverts for medicines that have at least some history of proven efficacy than for pseudo-scientific nonsense.

i am not medically literate, but if i am sick i go to a doctor and trust their judgement. and it's free! (for me anywayz). what do you suggest is compelling these people to go out of their way to find these "healers" and spend a lot money they may not have?

i do not know much about neurology, but do you think people who get suckered into his kind of thing are a) choosing to not make a rational decision when they could or b) do not have the capacity to make one? if it is a) i do not see why they should be pitied or stopped.
