Not sure if this is quite the right thread for this but here goes...
I have a vintage peugeot which im trying to find a bit more about and whether its worth spending some money on converting it. I also currently have a 08 genesis flyer which is my day to day commuter, having had it a year i really enjoy the genesis but my commute involves muswell hill every day and its taking its toll on my knees on such a high ratio....so i was thinking to either add a hub gear to the genesis by sale of the peugot or sell on the genesis and invest the money into getting the pug road fit. so in summary is the pug frame good or gas pipe? i have search threads here and elsewhere to try and id but the frame number comes up blank as do the other sites recommended.
Full spec of Peugeot / parts considered for upgrade
Tange 2 Frame / could do with tlc has some scuffs would repaint if could maintain colour decals
Sugino front crank
Suntour Ole gear components / replace with shimano alfine 8 speed hub gear
Strong seat post / keep
Kusuki winpista handlebars / replace with TT or cinelli bull horns
Mavic rear rim / keep
Front rim no id / keep

My understanding is the bike is in its original configuration, have guessed its date as 1989 as that is the year the suntour components went into production. The frame is very light, lighter than my GT but the geometry feels very stiff compared with the more supple ride you get of the genesis (presumably the carbon seat post and front forks soak up some of the road noise?)
Any help advice would be appreciated, think i will be selling the winpista as they dont work for me and would prefer bullhorns as i like to sit high in city traffic.
