  • I stupidly lent a friend of mine my bike to do a Triathalon yesterday knowing there was no time when he'd leave it anywhere. He did. Popped into work at Guys Hospital and it was stolen at about 3am. They got through a Kryptonite M18 and a couple of other locks too.

    The bike:

One off Dave Hinde Lo Pro frame. It's 60cm, metallic peacock blue with chrome forks, seatstay and chainstays. The frame number stamped underneath the BB is either 12 or 17, but there are things on the bike frame that are unique to it. At the time of the theft there was black electrical tape covering the DAVE HINDE stickers on the down and seat tube, but not the "DH" sticker on the frame below the stem.

Rear wheel is a 700 Specialised Carbon Trispoke wheel, front is a 650c Deep V Velocity. Both have Bonti tyres.

Cinelli bull bars, Cane Creek levers, Shimano groupset (not SS/Fixed yet) . All brake cables are internal with Tektro brakes.Titanium ITM stem, Sella Italia titanium saddle (not in image). There is black reflective tape on the seatpost and other parts of the bike.

Obviously I am devastated (not to mention furious with my friend - who leaves a bike like that locked up in South London during the night?! I never leave it anywhere that's not inside) as it cannot be replaced, but I guess at least it's distinctive enough to be noticed. I imagine it's being dismantled and shipped abroad rather than taken down to Brick Lane, but please could people keep an eye out for the frame - the geometry is pretty aggressive and the rear wheel distinctive.

I will give someone a MASSIVE financial reward if they find this bike - far more than anyone else will pay for it. It has huge sentimental value as it was my late fathers. That's the most annoying thing. Some scum have it and will sell it for 10% of what i'll pay to get it back.

Moral is. Don't ever lend anyone anything you really value.

Please please keep your eyes peeled and if you do see it, want to get in touch or could give me some advice on good places to look for stolen bikes my email is . Telephone number is 07977 200 231

I'm off now for a little cry.

    Tom
