  • West Ham are reported to have joined Everton in pursuing Rangers' midfielder Steven Davis - and quotes from the player about his love of the English Premier League will concern fans of the Ibrox club.

The Northern Ireland international played for Aston Villa and Fulham before joining Rangers, and in an interview published on Goal.com, the 25-year-old was fulsome in his praise for the Premier League - sadly for those at Ibrox, it was the English version he was talking up.

Speaking ahead of this weekend's friendly with Newcastle, Davis said: "I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss playing Premier League-standard teams every week. Without being disrespectful to the SPL, I think everybody connected with Rangers would like nothing more than to be taking on sides of that calibre all the time."

The Hammers and the Toffees are said to be willing to test just how keen Davis is to be playing south of the border, and are rumoured to be contemplating bids.

However, Rangers would certainly want a good bit more than the £3 million they paid in 2008 when signing him from Fulham.
