I ride that road everyday, thought it was one of the safer roads of my commute =/. My thoughts go out the family/friends of the rider.

Hackney Gazette report she's in a serious condition in hospital.
And I've just spoken to the police myself and the last update they had was she's in intensive care in hospital.
Fingers crossed that it's not another fatal. -

Poor lady. If she survives, that lady has fought and fought. It gets me emotional thinking of someone coming back from a serious acident and subsequent heart failure.

I really hope she's ok. I happened to pass by the scene shortly before my first post here this afternoon (around 2.45pm) and the officers on the cordon told me that the accident was fatal. I figured the Gazette story simply hadn't been updated. So yes, fingers crossed. :/

just got back from the pub.
i was feeling a little low cos i had a tough day at work and i thought another cyclist killed. bad news and all that. so i went down the pub for a swifty.
i got chatting to the bar man who was upset. he told me his brother had died. he had been standing on a pavement in blackpool outside his shop. a car appeared from nowhere out of control mounted the pavement, hit his brother .... who is now dead as a result.
he was 45 and leaves a wife and three u7 children.
the point is imo: mpv = wmd.
lets hope we get 20 mph asap.
and thereby change our community culture.
lets hope the rider makes a good recovery.....

Yet another cyclist has been knocked down in Hackney. The woman who is thought to be in her 30′s, collided with a black cab along Graham road near Navarino Road just after 12 noon yesterday, Thursday 5 August and was taken to the London Royal Hospital. According to uncorroborated report, she had a cardiac arrest.
Police have confirmed this morning (8.30 Friday 7 August) that the woman is still in critical condition, contrary to her death being announced on a London cyclist website.
In March, a female cyclist was killed after she collided with a skip truck, at the roundabout on Lauriston Road and Victoria Park Road.
More to follow.

What an emotional roller coaster this week is turning out to be. This is twice now we've had a supposed fatality 'revised down' to a serious injury.
Either way these people will be in a very serious condition. Let's hope that she pulls through and makes a full recovery - thoughts are with her and her family who must be going through a terrible time right now.
Fingers crossed for the best.

A note also, that I think the tag "Rider Down" still covers the (always tragic) event, especially in light of any further developments. It just seems a bit macabre to be wishing someone a RIP when they're still fighting for their lives. I am really hoping for this lady.

The Hackney Hive need to brush up their editorial standards. Starting a story about an RTA with "Yet another cyclist has been knocked down" is horrible, and totally unrepresentative of cycling in general. Whilst of course its awful when cyclists get hurt on the roads and it does happen too often, it is still far from being a common occurrence when you compare volume of cyclists against accidents. You wouldn't write a story about a car crash with "Yet another driver has crashed"
Also "collided with" is different to "in a collision with" in my eyes - the later not inferring blame to the cyclist and therefore more preferable. Maybe it's just syntax but this gets me every time.
Let's hope this lady cyclist pulls through and does well.

A FEMALE cyclist run over by a taxi in Dalston has been named.
Arina Romanova, 24, of Amhurst Road, was making only her second journey to work in Liverpool Street on that particular route on a friend's bike when she cycled in front of a black taxi cab coming up Graham Road.
She is currently in an induced coma in the Royal London Hospital where she remains in a life-threatening condition.
Ms Romanov, who came to Hackney from Latvia in June, was cycling south on Navarino Road without a helmet on a blue fold-up Raleigh bike at around 12.15pm on Thursday.
Investigators believe she failed to stop at the junction of Graham Road and rode straight in front of the oncoming cab.
She went under the wheels of the car, which is thought to have been going about 20mph.
The driver stopped straight away.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the accident or Ms Romanov, who was wearing a multi-coloured pashmina, beige tartan jacket or top, dark leggings and multi-coloured shoes, to contact them.
Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw Ms Romanov on her bike before she reached the junction of Graham Road.
DS Joe Lock said: "We are appealing for further witnesses who may have seen the incident or Ms Romanov cycling down the road to help us piece together what happened.
"It does not seem she was riding erratically but it would appear she did not even attempt to stop at the junction so there may have been some distraction for her."
Ms Romanov's family have flown in from Latvia and are currently at their daughter's bedside in the Royal London Hospital

I hope you don't mind me starting my post with:
**WTF dude**? Do something about your paranoia and anger. This unfortunate woman has been pronounced dead by others on **this site**, yet you are worried about a post on Hackney Hive beginning with "Yet another cyclist". Is it any wonder some non-cyclists feel the way they do about cyclists?
The world does not revolve around you.
Have a supadupa weekend and be safe out there.

that junction is a little confusing - the way navarro road is one way in two different directions from the junction, with contraflow cycle lanes on different sides of the road. and in latvia they drive on the right. if she was used to driving/cycling there, and only came here in june, and had just started cycling here, i suspect it was just enough contradictory information to let her look left, out of habit, rather than right, at the junction.. hope she pulls through...
Horrible news. So tragic.
