Thursday Night - Hour of Power

  • Tonight could always be the Thursday Night Hour of Lethargic Pootling.

  • At least the weather's nice (at the moment)

  • I'll try to swing by after work for some laps, but like last week, I don't expect to keep up with you guys.

  • I'm just aiming to get 10 miles in before I drop a lap....

  • @Friday

Would that be the Luciano ride? Am giving it a go myself, though not attempting any heroism. Frankly I'm feeling like extra miles in the legs would be a plus at this stage.

  • friday, dumps:
i'm also trying to keep my powder dry for sunday.

    (60% in)

  • ^^Yes, I'm going to give it a go. Let's hope the weather holds!

Today's mild discomfort is nothing at all unusual, but having it 100% gone would very much increase the enjoyment of a relatively pacey Sunday run. I've a definite tendency toward over-baking this sort of thing and I acknowledge that, for me, a little moderation sometimes offers the better approach.[/sensibleface]

Anyway, whatev's. Chances are I'll be out this evening. 80-85% in.[/stupidface]

  • How about we call off the Hour of Power effort entirely tonight and just get a nice gently paced 20 miles in. Keeps the legs turning, doesn't break anything (sweat, kneecaps), company balances the monotony (and we could even go round the outer circle)

(I will do my best to resist chasing everything that passes by like an overexcited puppy barking at cars)

  • I'll be 74" fixed so that's very doable for me - though it only takes one person to speed up slightly before it all goes mental....

  • ^^In, but it's your fault when I get carried away.

  • My first time for this jazz, so happy to start gently and maybe wind up after a bit. Got gears innit, but suspect 22mph for the full hour is a stretch for me.

  • Reckon im in for this eve, see you all there.

  • Complex over-formatted list time!

    loads of us!

  • I'm so in I'm listed twice!

  • I think you're imagining things!

  • ahem

  • i'm not even in.

  • There are probably parallels to be made between that and the helmet debate.

  • don't you start.

  • all of that's completely over my head.
    come along damo!

  • I'd love to come along, but as ever, am working till 7pm, then reading bedtime stories, and then jumping on "my fucking exercise bike in my bedroom," to quote Friday, as I only have a 45 minute window before having to do some other shit. And so it goes, to quote Vonnegut.

  • That sounds like a degree of fun on par with the normal Hour of Power. In fact, the 45 minute exercise bike session combined with bed time stories is probably superior.

  • (Bed time stories have an end, the inner circle doesn't)

Not to nitpick, as anybody quoting Vonnegut makes me happy, but wasn't it "and so on"?

Of course, now I'll be proven wrong and look like a nitpicking twat.

  • Of course, now I'll be proven wrong and look like a nitpicking twat pedant.

    nothing wrong with pedantry.
