Can't recommend Switzerland highly enough. I've not got a family so not sure how that goes but for cycling the scenery is incredible and I found the drivers extremely courteous... Has a bad rep for price but to be honest I still managed to eat cheap and the quality of everything is much higher for your money.

I was mostly on the French side and you can get cheap flights to Geneva. Some of the smaller towns and villages are beautiful... nice valley runs too if you're shy of the mountains!

Good job I don't drink too much !
It's really hard to decide b/c I know the weather may not be guaranteed to be good at the end of August. So will need standby things to do.
Still tilted towards Holland, maybe Maastricht as it's close to Germany and Belgium. -

i just got back from a stomp up to amsterdam from london.
holland is well worth it.
the coastal route is amazing.
super flat, excellent cycling facilites everywhere and specific road signs for bikes.
navigation was never a problem and we saw some nice little places.
vlissingen was a nice town.
saw so many families touring together, kitted up all the way!the kids carrying all their own stuff.enjoy whatever you get up to.

Went here last year http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoge_Veluwe_National_Park
Like the Holland equivalent to the New Forest, lovely scenery - the whole park is criss crossed by bike lanes - we camped in a small village called Vierhouten - excellent camping facilites and a swimming lake! Also an amazing restaurant called The Novice that we went to at the end of the week as a treat after eating camping food for 5 days. We're going back to holland (northern this time) on Saturday for more camping and riding - can't recommend it highly enough.

I love the Black Forest. Haven't done any cycling there (yet) but you've got hills/mountains, valleys, and the Rhine all there to cycle, catering to all sorts of skill levels.

I think we are going to give Den Helder a try, nice beaches and not too far from Amsterdam.
I can't decide where in Europe to go for a family holiday to include a weeks worth of cycling?
We have been to Belgium a few tiimes and really enjoyed it, but we quite fancy either Holland, Germany or possibly Poland.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
