Cycling home from work last night, coming from Mornington Crescent and turning right onto Camden Road by the worlds end pub, a car takes me out from behind and carries on speeding down Kentish Town Road leaving me lying in the middle of the road shouting obscenities and wondering what the fuck just happened.
Obviously, with it being super busy round there, a crowd had emerged around me before I even knew what was going on. It's nice to know that there's still tons of good natured people out there. One of them was a nurse and was telling me not to move, but I was well aware I was lying in the middle of a busy intersection, so insisted on getting myself up and to the side of the road. My injuries are fairly superficial; just cuts and grazes really, nothing major.
An ambulance and police car were there in minutes, and while being checked over in the ambulance, a policeman informed me that a cyclist had chased the driver and caught him and was holding him there! Amazing! If anyone hears who this could have been I'd love to shake his hand and say, "jolly well done, sir". The driver did take off again, but was caught by the police. WAC!! I'll find out later today whether or not he was insured etc.
Could've been a lot worse, and considering I was hit by a car I got off pretty lightly. But as I said, it's great to know that in such a situation people are more than willing to offer whatever help they can. Amen to that!
