I put two boxes on the window edge during the day and let them fill up with light, closing them about 2 hours before sundown. Come night time I strap them to my bike and cut a little slit which allows a little light to spill out. I get about 2hrs from a box that holds space invaders.
You can get suitable boxes by asking at your local corner shop / small supermarket e.t.c.
