  • My sister is an erasmus student in Manchester, she comes back in France in september and doesn't want to bring back her frame with her (another frame is waiting for her in France)

    here is the frame

    detail of the "shock"

  • dibs, just gonna check bank

  • 240!!!!?? You sure its a track frame? it would be nice to see a closeup of the dropouts just to make sure it isnt just a cheap carbolite pug....

  • from the first picture it does look like its sporting track ends....?

  • as you can read it i wrote "track" so it's track with track dropouts..
my sister told me it's a pick up only sale, so you can look by your eyes if you want this frame.

i'll ask my sister a better picture tomorrow

ha Morgan ur a funny man

@kellz - to me it looks like a peugeot road frame with welded on track ends which would then not make it a track bike but a road bike with track ends. I suspect this because:
a - a shop in manchester called GBH has a habit of getting bog standard road frames, chopping off the dropouts and welding on track ends. They then at least double the price of what is still a bog standard frame
b - i have never heard of a peugeot track frame that hasnt had the above done to it. I may be wrong and they did make them but think im right and they only made road frames....
what is the tubing on the frame?

  • doesnt look like track geometry to me, my bet is it is a carbolite with the ends changed.

Peugeot does do track frame actually, but they're quite rare, and the most common one are outsourced using other frame builder, even British framebuilder (Geoffrey Butler build some for them once).

There are Peugeot track frame with those typical decal, but the one in picture doesn't look like it's one, just a road conversion with a greyish looking track end.

    Here's a good example (and my favourite, always want one);

  • I have read before that they did make a track frame, but have never seen any proof of it, maybe it was the same thing as you described above.
Seems a tad expensive, did Ed sell a Pug before conversion? not sure what price he got, was maybe a while ago.

Saying that I really like Pug's they just look good, so maybe not a bad deal, provided it's not badly damaged.

  • I sold mine for £200, it was in good nick and have decent part on them (Sugino crankset, CXP33 - Miche rear wheel, charge Spoon saddle, charge bullhorn, goldfinger brake, 105 brakes, fresh tyres).

  • really interesting ed, do you know who the outsourced frame builders were?

yeah it is expensive if its a carbolite - maybe half the price asked for would be more accurate...

  • Pistoffski, ta for the tips, going to cycle to Paris soon to find out if I can buy some Peugeot track frame, I want them more than a Colnago/Naggy/Don Wanker track frame.

To be fair, the carbolite frame of the Pug is reasonably light in comparison to an plain gauge equative (like a Raleigh).

  • hmmm... the decals matches that of ed's posting. Might be a shallow observation but some additional/better photos should end this debate...

    All peugeot look like that!

£240 is a stupidload for an old common garden Peugeot frame.

  • That Pug track is bodacious, would they be french threaded (or did i read swiss somewhere?!?)

what you said about the price, was carbolite roughly equivalent to 501 or 531? (I actually reckon this point has been raised a bit before)

  • no, carbolite is equivalent to plain gauge standard tubesets, 501 and 531 are way better in comparison

  • Thus the 'shallow' disclaimer :)

Ed, I sense that you have some very heightened urge to own the above frame, suppresed by the fact that it's authenthicity could not be accertained ;)

  • you can probably tell what tube it is by the number. the one above is one my favs. you might find some usefull info here:
    http://www.retropeugeot.com

  • Jesus, check out the drop on that Peugeot! I'll give the low pro crowd a run for it's money!

  • Its got nicer lugs than a standard carbolite, that ticks another box as to it being legit and not a conversion.

Second that, that's not a Carbolite.

  • wow lot of people here
