Myself and Mrs Churchy did the 'tell a few friends and run away and get married in that america' it was brilliant and I'd personally never do it any other way! Family got over it pretty quick too!
We ended up with 14 guests and seeing as none of the things we had to pay for (cake, booze, meals etc) had the word "wedding" in front of them it worked out way cheaper and more unique than we could have hoped for!
We planned very little and if that doesnt scare you 'on your big day' then its the only way to go in my humble opinion!
