  • not to sure what size i'll need to buy ive been reading around and i don't really know what to look for i havent read anything about certian specs i will be needing. all i know is the old one had a thread on it, ive read on here that a unthearded one could work but i dont know whats size i'd need. some people said that it would be easyier to keep the old one on but i dont have it, all i have is one of the bits thats screw into the frame and thats stuck on.

bike looks alot like this just different colours

  • My peugeot premiere had a standard british thread bb. measure the width of the shell (prob 73? could be 68mm) and buy a shimano cartridge jobbie, un54 or the like according to what chainset you have on, prob a 110mm spindle length.

  • My Peugeot HLE + 103 have standard British threads and 68mm BB shell width. I use a 107mm cartridge in both, that gets the chainline nice and straight and allows a 53 tooth chainring without hitting the chainstay.

Check which way the fixed side BB cup unscrews with a big adjustable spanner, if it unscrews clockwise then it's likely to be British and you can use whatever cheapy cartridge you want of ebay (Acor are £11). If it unscrews anti-clockwise then it's French, and I'm out of ideas.
