Profide is expensive and much of it is petroleum gelly which is an inexpensive ingredient - you can make a richer conditioner yourself with better quality ingredients. You can use this recipe I use myself. You can alter the proportions of ingredients to make a hard wax or a liquid that you can soak the saddle in.
First get some beeswax and in a bain-marie dissolve it in some turpentine. The more liquid you use the thinner the end product (by the way this just on its own makes a fabulous furniture polish).
Then add some tallow which actually comes from cows (the fat from pigs is called 'lard') and some lanolin (this fat comes from sheep).
You can also add one or two vitamin e capsules (the oil ones).
Allow to set or when it is warm and liquid use it to condition your leather.
Apply it to the saddle. Wait (I just leave it on overnight or indefinitely and before riding one of my bikes just polish it off with a clean rag)
No chemicals, 100% natural. You can buy much of this stuff on the internet or a hardware store or you can be really rustic and make tallow yourself from the feet or the kidney of a cow! This salve is also an excellent conditioner for your hands which you will notice when you apply it and any other leather goods you have like jackets or shoes. I use it all the time and before you knock cow feet they actually taste quite good and are excellent for your health :-) ...check out my website:
