-
• #6

-
• #7
I should be available to help on the day if that's needed, too?
-
• #8
what type/diameter of pipe corners do you need? female to female?
i may be able to get some from my old man's work and drop to london next week.
-
• #9
sorry if i'm being thick, what do you mean by corner piping? Louis still has all that timber ...
-
• #10
Gabes is making Karlsruhe style goals, hence piping and corners. We will still need to get that wood off Louis at some point. Thanks for reminding me B.
-
• #11
aah ok, do you want me and louis to sort it? Is it just enough to cover the goals, cause thats why why drilled it to the walls...

That would be wicked. Thanks.

Right, i'll move this in here rather than on the wed/south thread cos its relevant to the Open.
i followed up on the two calls i made to southwark. nothing had been done to remedy the broken lights at newington, so the cust service rep raised a new action/call number on their system. i'll follow it up again next week if it hasnt been sorted. i have a record of all the names of the people i've been dealing with and the logged action numbers.
also, i called two councillors for the ward about the lights, one of whom called me back almost immediately. her name is claire hickson, labour, and she was very friendly. i explained to her that i'd raised the problem again, and she said she would help out if it wasnt sorted by next week. when i mentioned the location, straight away she said to me "oh thats the place where they play bicycle polo!" and was really positive towards it, she sounded like someone it would be good to liaise with again in the future.
whatever about throw-ins, it'd be great to have the lights sorted out for the Open.
If anybody else wants to ring up and do the same thing, please do.
i imagine the more people that call, the more likely/faster it'll get fixed.
the southwark parks number is 020 7525 2000.
dial 1 at the options, and report the lights have been damaged by vandalism.
if you do call, make sure you get the name of the rep dealing with you, and ask them for the log number they raise on their system, so if you call back, you can quote it to them. -

Tell me about it, any help would be much appreciated! (I can potentially help you Sunday morn Gabes, but would rather blitz through some other Open bits and bobs if anyone else can come forward.)
Managing housing for over 100 players - anyone? (This is a big task and would be a weight off, it would require a list of London individuals prepared to house players/teams, and then matching up the visiting players/teams accordingly.)
Format, brackets and schedule. - Gabes, thank you. (let me know if we need to chat through stuff and I'll buy you some ciders.)
Rules and Reffing - anyone? (Essentially this entails watching over the other referees, organising a ref meeting before the tourney and making sure the rules are enforced fairly throughout the two days.)
Security - anyone? (Either a designated area for bikes that is watched over by designated people thoughout the event via a timetable, or organising a paid alternative.)
Goals - Gabes and Em, again, thanks.
Free food - anyone? (We'd like to be able to offer free food to everyone Geneva-style, but we don't have any budget for it, so we either need to produce something super cheap and organise how it will be kept fresh and brought to the courts, etc, or find a willing sponsor/donator.)

Hi Jono
We ( Madam & Kids ) are camping in our unfurnished house in Brixton that weekend, Friday / Saturday / Sunday.
It has less furniture than your Geneva bunkhouse but its clean and has hot water.
We could accommodate 2 teams, they would need mats and sleeping bags.
They would need to leave Monday AM at the latest as we have lots to do.
I hope to visit on the Saturday as I need to say Hi / Bye to Rik, my mentor..
Let me know. -

Awesome James, thanks for the offer... I'll start a new thread for London generosity now.

Jono, me and Mat can house a team (not sure if he's told you yet or not). /Therese

Thanks! Can you add your offer (and any specifics) to the new thread (now in my last post).
Also, some people may want to house certain teams (inter-team loving and all that), it'd be useful to know this before I start getting crossed wires, just chuck a team name in the details of your offer (even if it's already arranged it'd be useful to know).

I'll check with Matti Boy when he gets back from Polo re. team preference. How's your Polobean? Looking forward to seeing it!
