Puncture Resistant Tyres for a Vintage Build

Posted on
  • I have been trying to find some tyres that are going to look good on my vintage Colnago and stop me getting punctures riding in London. Ideally gumwalls, any solutions!

  • Pasela, have kevlar which is good and you can exceed the pressure guides with confidence.

  • Bontraeger race all weathers have thicker sidewalls than gatorskins and are also cheaper; that being said they do say bontraeger in white on an all black tyre...

I like the armadillos as well

  • +1 for the Panasonic Pasela TourGuard. Have them on my vintage Bianchi. Just rode to Paris on them and didn't have a p*ncture

  • I have gumwall Panaracers, have had no puncture problems on the london streets, even took them up the tow paths to Windsor without any problems.

however, I am lead to believe that they are not as good looking as the Veloflex Paves.

This gumwall discussion might be of interest, it was revived recently - https://www.lfgss.com/thread13804.html

  • Veloflex Master and/or Pave = WIN

  • I absolutely love Veloflex, but I couldn't really recommend them as a London tyre - they're more of a lazy man's tub.

  • servizo corse?

  • Bontraeger race all weathers have thicker sidewalls than gatorskins and are also cheaper; that being said they do say bontraeger in white on an all black tyre...

    link for gumwall versions?
