This looks epic. I guess about 90 miles a day? Does not sound impossible, but I guess you need to avoid going off too fast, and also if you give yourself most of the day for the ride, you can afford some reasonable stops. (I know that this will not happen, and that you will probably attempt to skip at least one of the overnight stop towns!)
I know exactly what you mean about the charity/selfish thing. When I did the Vatternrundan, loads of people told be to raise some money, (which I did in the end) but to begin with I felt a bit like a fraud, as I was going to do the ride anyway, mostly because I thought it would be fun.
In the end I figured that if people want to use my bike ride as a focus to donating to a charity, why waste that opportunity. In the end I just did one email to everyone in my email address book, and I was amazed at who sponsored me. For the sake of 10 minutes on one of those just giving websites, I think it is worthwhile.
Cant offer any help with the accomodation I'm afraid, but best of luck.
