Replacing Miche Axle

I have a miche front hub which has sealed bearings but the axle does not have lips on it, it is a 9mm solid threaded axle. Here is finepics post where he has a picture of the miche hub dissambled, there are no lips/flanges.

That is very interesting, and contrary to what the LBS told me.
